The Mindanao Journal of Science and Technology is a peer-reviewed research journal of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP). MJST publishes scientific and innovative researches in science and engineering disciplines covering the main areas of science and technology and other related studies. All manuscripts submitted undergo a double-blind review process. It is published annually in December by the USTP Press, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines.

MJST aims to promote original researches in science and technology (S&T) and S & T – related studies in the Philippines. Contributions from foreign authors are also welcome. It also aims to disseminate researches, good practices and innovations in science and technology to their prime audience including educators, researchers and industry practitioners and policy makers. Areas of studies include biological sciences (biology, zoology, botany, and agriculture), engineering and architecture (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, computer engineering and architecture) and other related studies in engineering and technology. It further aims to provide avenue through which experts and scientists in the scientific and technological fields share and discuss their high quality researches.

MJST is indexed in Scopus, Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) under Web of Science Core Collection of Clarivate Analytics, ASEAN Citation Index, and Philippine E-Journals (PEJ). It is also recognized by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in its Journal Incentive Program (JIP) for the period 2017-2019.

  The Mindanao Journal of Science and Technology (MJST) is pleased to announce the online publication of Volume 22, Issue 1, 2024, featuring eight meticulously reviewed national and two international research works. Highlights include land suitability evaluation of areas grown with cocoa in Davao City; the benefits of local earthworm vermicast on eggplant growth; high-affinity IDH1 epitopes for potential glioma vaccines; genetic markers in the prolactin gene contributing to high milk yields; bioactive compounds in sea cucumber with health benefits; the potential of indigenous plants against SARS-CoV-2; development of a cashew apple slicing machine that enhances efficiency and reduces labor costs; measles outbreak detection in Cotabato using statistical models; changes in vegetation cover in Central Visayas; and the potential for meat production employing free-range systems for male White Leghorns.

• MJST sets paper submission deadline for Issue 1, Volume 22 (2024)

  The Mindanao Journal of Science and Technology (MJST) would like to inform all interested authors that paper submissions for possible inclusion in Issue 1, Volume 22 (2024) will be accepted until December 31, 2023 only. This is to allow sufficient time for the editorial office to process the overwhelming number of previously submitted papers.

   The office will issue a separate advisory when paper submission reopens for Issue 2, Volume 22 (2024).

• The latest issue (Issue 1 of Volume 21) of Mindanao Journal of Science and Technology is now available!

  This issue brings together a vast range of scrupulously selected works, written by local and international authors, in the fields of environmental science, natural language processing, mathematical sciences, image processing, mechanical engineering, microbiology, weed science, entomology, horticulture, location science, and civil engineering. Two of the 12 accepted papers are from the two ASEAN neighboring countries, namely Thailand and Malaysia, while the remaining 10 papers are from the Philippines.

Scholars from Indonesia, India, and Nigeria, aside from the Philippines, have contributed four manuscripts to this issue, thereby enriching the diversity of MJST authorship.

  The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) and the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI) have inked an agreement to produce the first-ever special issue of Mindanao Journal of Science and Technology (MJST) on nuclear science and technology for the selected papers presented at the 2nd Philippine Nuclear Research and Development Conference. The conference was hosted virtually by the DOST-PNRI on December 8-10, 2020.
