Approved Policy on MJST Publication Frequency, Peer Reviewer Recognition, and Article Processing Charges (APC)
The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Board of Regents (BOR), in its Regular Meeting on October 23, 2025, approved BOR Resolution No. 201, s. 2025, instituting a unified policy for the Mindanao Journal of Science and Technology (MJST).
This policy aims to enhance the academic rigor, financial sustainability, and global visibility of MJST, the University's official Scopus-indexed multidisciplinary journal.
- Revised Article Processing Charges (APC) Schedule
A phased and necessary increase in APC rates will take effect, with the first adjustment scheduled for January 1, 2026. USTP authors remain exempt from all APCs.

Note: The APC is applied upon the acceptance of the manuscript.
- Peer Reviewer Recognition (APC Discount)
The current monetary honorarium for peer reviewers has been replaced with a non-monetary incentive system, effective immediately upon BOR approval (October 23, 2025).
- Reviewers receive a 10% discount on the APC for every completed review of a manuscript.
- Discounts can be accumulated, allowing authors to earn up to a 100% APC waiver.
- Discounts are applicable to the reviewer's own submissions to MJST and are valid for three (3) years from the review completion date.
- Publication Frequency Transition
To increase visibility and provide more timely publication opportunities, MJST will transition from biannual to a higher frequency on the following schedule:
- Triannual (3 issues per year): Beginning January 1, 2026.
- Quarterly (4 issues per year): Beginning January 1, 2030.
